12/9-Viva Las Vegas!

We took some time off of work to enjoy a weekend in Las Vegas last week. I (Tia) was also registered to run the Las Vegas Marathon.

We left on Friday night right after work to get to Kingman. We stayed there the night and left the next morning bright and early in hopes of getting to Vegas in time to check out the Vegas Expo and check into the Luxor.

That night Jas and I went to see The Blue Man group at The Venetian. It was a very good show. Extremely interactive and funny. I didn't really expect them to be funny but they were pretty hilarious. Mainly we went to see the group to get my mind off the marathon. It was successful right afterwards we went right to bed.
The next morning Izzie and mom were awake at 4:30AM to get ready for the long run ahead. Izzie was having a ball in Vegas, seeing all the lights and new places to explore. Vegas has now become a Begay favorite and maybe a vacation spot for years to come.
As I began my run on the strip, the family got ready in the room. I wasn't expected to come in for another 6 hours.
Grandma Mary came along and truly enjoyed her time at the Luxor. She took time to take pictures of the themed hotel. She thought that New York, New York was actually the New York City that people talk about. After some breakfast the family strolled on over to the finish line.
The family waited and waited and finally...
Tia came in 7 hours and 30 minutes later. (full personal account)
After a quick ice bath, some pastrami sandwich, an a nap, it was off to the Bellagio fountains. The sight was beautiful. Jas and his baby girl watched the water explode time and time again.
On our way back we stopped in the Bellagio Atrium where they had Pecan reindeer, water displays and large Christmas ornaments.

We ended the night with a stop by the Largest Souvenir Shop in Vegas. We tried to find some cute shirts for Izzie but all we found were these snazzy glasses.
All

All in all we loved our trip to Vegas. Up next on the Vegas To Do List: Wax Museum, night at The Venetian, Comedy Show, Time at Black Jack tables and dinner at Stratosphere.

Next time, don't forget MORE water and the BOTTLE mixer.

Tucson Begay's for Obama

You were too young to remember this year’s general election but you were there with us to vote. We all woke-up thirty minutes early to cast our ballots (it was mainly daddy who had to wake-up early). This general election was the most intense general election I could remember. Daddy was nervous and he was afraid that he would "bubble in" the wrong presidential candidate. He made sure it was correct and made sure that the all the bubbles were all filled in correctly. Mommy was fast filling in her bubbles and she was done before daddy. Of course, everyone loved you (especially all the old ladies) and you even received a "I voted" sticker. Daddy was very excited and impatient all day at work, so much that he kept reading the headline news every thirty minutes. It wasn't until 9:06 p.m. that Barack Obama was declared the projected presidential elect! Mommy was so touched that she jumped up off the couch and took pictures of the moment. Daddy was watching T.V. with excitement, Wyatt was trying to sleep but really was waiting for daddy to take him outside, and you were sleeping. I can't wait to see what kind of young lady you will become, and I also can't wait for the day that you will be eligible to vote in an election. I want tell you that it is important to vote because so many people before you we not able to vote and had to fight for that basic civil right. You may one day understand these struggles but I am confident to tell you that you may become what ever you desire in this world, even the president of the United States of America!

Halloweenies!

Our first Halloween as non-trick or treaters was exciting but mostly tiring. I don't know how parents to it when they can walk. We only went to 5 houses and we were beat after all those doorbells.

Leia was Princess Leia from Star Wars and it turns out just like her grandma who was also Leia. Leia's outfit was all handmade. I knitted her a Leia hat and Auntie Lisa sewed her a Leia dress. Luckily, it was a warm night so there was no winter coat to wear over her outfit.

She did bring in quite a load with several houses giving handfuls of candy out. I took all the Reese's (she's a baby!). Jas's arm was tired after all that carrying, next year she'll be able to walk in her "little shrimp" outfit.

On our way home, we made a stop at Auntie Nanny's house. She was a bee. Auntie Nanny's old man was really freaky with Burt Reynold hair.

Overall, when we have to do this again, I think we leave for trick or treating earlier and get home earlier so we won't be yawning at people's doors.

I would also recommend eating dinner earlier and bringing water along the way.

Next year, we will all dress up, I promise.

Happy Halloween to our family and friends, you make this time of year even happier.

Last Shot of Twenties

This past week was my twenty-ninth birthday. The celebration start early on Saturday with family, continued on Monday at work, and finished one week later with the Mythbusters Behind the Scenes Tour at UA. Thank you to Tia for organizing a party, even at the last “minute”. I love you. Thank you everyone for the great gifts: I got a messenger style bag, head light, Ironman movie, ice cream cake from Cold Stone, and birthday cards. Also thank you Connie for the pumpkin cheese cake. I have another year of being in my twenties so I will enjoy it.

New Mexico Balloon Fiesta

On October 4th, the Begays took a vacation to New Mexico to see the Balloon Fiesta, which is on our "we" list. (The list we created to do together.)

It was colder than usual so we took our vests out of storage and took off on Friday. Leia did very well on the trip. She took time to eat some apples and bagels on the trip up.

We woke up nice and early to see some early dawn balloon take flight. Leia was up nice and early as well. Everyone wanted to know if she was comfy and she was with her George at her side.

Our favorite balloons were the Darth Vader balloon and the Creamland Dairy cow.

Leia enjoyed the people.

Jas enjoyed the Chainsaw carving.

I enjoyed eating at Tucano's.
